Pila

Terms of Use

Last updated 8 September 2026

Pila is a document scanner for Android. These terms cover the app, the Pila Pro purchase and this website. They are short because the product is simple: your documents stay with you.

Using Pila

By installing or using Pila you accept these terms. If you do not agree with them, do not use the app.

Pila is licensed to you, not sold. You may install it on any Android device signed in to your Google Play account and use it for personal or professional purposes. You may not copy, modify, decompile or redistribute the app, or use it in a way that breaks the law or the rights of others.

Your documents

Everything you scan, sign or recognise belongs to you and stays on your device. You are responsible for the content of your documents and for keeping copies of the ones that matter: Pila stores them only on the phone, and uninstalling the app deletes them. Settings offers a backup you can keep wherever you like.

Accuracy

Edge detection, straightening, filters and text recognition are automatic and can make mistakes. Check any document you rely on before sending it, and check recognised text before using it. A signature drawn in Pila is an image burned into the page; whether it is valid as a signature depends on the laws that apply to you and to the document.

Pila Pro

Pila Pro is a one-time purchase made through Google Play, at the price shown there in your currency. It removes ads, lifts the limit on text recognition, and enables signatures and full-resolution export. It is tied to your Google Play account and can be restored on any device using the same account from the Pro screen.

Payment, taxes, refunds and cancellations are handled by Google Play under its own terms and refund policy. We do not see your payment details and cannot process refunds ourselves.

Ads

The free plan shows ads, including one short ad before each text recognition. Ads are served by Google AdMob. Where consent is required, you are asked before personalised ads are shown, and you can change that choice in Settings.

Warranty and liability

Pila is provided as is. To the extent permitted by law, we make no warranty that it will be error-free or uninterrupted, and we are not liable for loss of documents, data or business arising from its use. Nothing in these terms limits rights that the law gives you as a consumer and that cannot be waived.

Changes

We may update the app and these terms. If the terms change, the date at the top of this page changes with it, and continuing to use Pila after that means you accept the new terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Victoria, Australia, without prejudice to the consumer protection rules of the country where you live. The English version of this page prevails over its translations.
