Privacy Policy

Your documents never leave your phone. Pila has no account, no sign-in and no cloud storage. Everything you scan is stored on your device and nowhere else.

What stays on your device

Scanned pages, the stacks you organise them into, their names, the order of the sheets, any signature you draw, and any text recognised from them are written to Pila's private storage on your device. None of it is uploaded, backed up to a server, or readable by us or by any other app.

Text recognition, edge detection and page straightening all run on your device, offline. No image is sent anywhere to be processed. Photos and PDFs you import or share into Pila are copied into the same private storage.

A document leaves your device only when you choose to share, export or back it up, and then it goes exactly where you send it. A backup is a zip file that you save wherever you choose; Pila does not upload it. Uninstalling Pila deletes everything it stored.

What we collect

Pila uses three Google services. None of them receives the contents of your documents.

Google Analytics for Firebase records how the app is used, so we know which features matter. It receives counts and events, such as that a scan finished, how many sheets a PDF had, or that the paid version was purchased. It also receives a device identifier, general device information and an approximate location derived from your IP address. It never receives the name of a stack, the text recognised from a page, or a file.

Firebase Crashlytics receives a report when the app crashes: the point in the code where it failed, the device model and the Android version. This helps us fix the crash. It does not receive your documents.

Google AdMob shows the ads in the free version and receives your advertising ID and device information in order to select and measure them. In regions where consent is required, you are asked before any personalised ads are shown, and you can change that choice at any time from Settings → Ad preferences. Buying Pila Pro removes ads entirely.

Purchases are handled by Google Play Billing. We never see or store your payment details.

Your choices

• Buy Pila Pro to remove ads.
• Change your advertising consent from Settings, where that choice applies to you.
• Reset or delete your advertising ID in your Android settings.
• Delete a stack in the app, or uninstall Pila, to remove its documents from your device.

Because Pila has no account, there is no personal profile we could delete on request: nothing we receive is tied to your identity.

This website

This site sets no cookies, runs no analytics and loads no resources from third parties; the fonts are served from here. It is hosted on Firebase Hosting, a Google service, which may keep standard server request logs as any hosting provider does.

Children

Pila is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it.
